Jakarta, Java, Indonesia

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, population ten million. It's hot and steamy, ten seconds outside the hotel and you're covered in dripping sweat. Many people carry a smallish washcloth to wipe off their sweat.  It's not a tourist destination, so while walking around, it is possible to go for several hours without seeing another Caucasian person. Our first day here, we took a Hidden Jakarta all day tour with a group of two other European tourists and saw sights that most visitors miss, mainly impoverished communities near water, think squatters.
These elevated trains are used ones from Japan.

Overhead barbed wire keeps people off tops of trains.
